Want to learn Oracle ADF?
Although I am not using any of the Oracle tools or products at my current project I am still involved with it. One of the things besides my daily job is that I am going to ‘teach’ traditional Oracle developers how to use Java and Oracle ADF in their future projects. I am convinced that eventually the traditional tooling (Oracle Designer/ Developer) will be replaced for about 90% with the J(2)EE stack, of course for a great part backed by Oracle tools/frameworks. Since there is still a great part of developers not familiair with J(2)EE and Java, I expect there is a lot of work to do here.
I have made this transition myself several years ago, so I know what problems the ‘traditional’ developers can expect and will face. The time I started to work with JDeveloper (version 3.0) there wasn’t a lot documentation about it, so I had to learn it the hard way and discover a lot by trying it myself. Nowadays there is a lot more material to use when starting to work with J(2)EE and ADF. One resource which I want to name explicitly is the book ‘Oracle JDeveloper 10g for Forms & PL/SQL Developers: A Guide to Web Development with Oracle ADF‘ by Duncan Mills. I am studying it myself because we want to use it in our training program for our students and I wished I had this kind of book when I started with Oracle ADF (or BC4J in the old times ;-))! So if you decided to start to use the productive J2EE framework ‘Oracle ADF’ you should definitively get your hands on this book.

Pascal,
We are convinced that JSF is the future and are betting on ADF.
Would you be interested to speed up our team learning curve (4 Forms & Reports developers with a very basic Java background) and show us how to make serious web applications with ADF ?
We are based in Mauritius Island(in case you don’t know: Indian Ocean, look well on your map).
